19 Years of Zebra

Zebra Architects began 19 years ago, when our Managing Director Chris Partington had a vision for a family-centric working environment that prioritised the flexible needs of a team. Chris envisioned an innovative design studio that was sensitive to the external pressures of the team, and supportive of their unique circumstances. Understanding that people have lives outside of work, he wanted to create a business that could adapt to their needs.

In those early days, we started at the kitchen table, and within three months, we opened our first office in Trinity Street, Worcester. Our workload was varied, ranging from local housing developers to student operators. We believe that our authentic approach to business has helped us grow into the successful firm we are today.

Welcome Nicola!

We are very excited to welcome an ex-Zebra back to the Dazzle as a Project Architect.

Having worked with Nicola before, we know she will be a great fit, as her skills are second to none!

Here’s wishing Nicola all the best in her new role!

Iceworks from up high.

Great view of the new build elements of the Iceworks this morning, sitting alongside the historic mill.  Great to see this project coming out of the ground.

Burcot Lane

Burcot Lane, Bromsgrove.

A fantastic drone shot taken by Speller Metcalfe a month or so ago, showing a snapshot of progress, with a proposed site plan for comparison. Zebra Architects and Zebra Landscapes are involved in the delivery of this £8.6m DPP3 Framework construction project in Bromsgrove Town Centre. The project has since seen some of the timber frames constructed as the two storey dwellings get built.

This scheme has seen the demolition of the former Bromsgrove Council offices, and is soon to be 61 new build affordable and market dwellings for Bromsgrove District Council, consisting of 4 storey apartments, and 2 storey houses and maisonettes, all set for completion later this year.

Zebra News

For a second planning approval in a week in Sandwell, we have worked closely with Will Stevens at the local authority to achieve planning consent for our client on the former Star and Garter site on West Bromwich High Street.  This nine-storey building replaces a previous consent for a five-storey structure and bookends the high street.  It is designed to work alongside, but be subsidiary to the Grade II listed St Michaels Church adjacent.  The development will provide commercial retail opportunities at ground floor, with a mixture of 60 one and two bedroom flats over with roof terrace amenity, which will contribute to the continued regeneration of this area.

Welcome Ayo!

We're delighted to introduce Ayo as our newest member of the team. She will be assisting us with all things planning and design.

Planning Approval

Zebra are delighted to obtain a planning approval for a proposal for 4 dwellings on a site in Rubery, Birmingham. Working with Montague Property, the mixture of 3 and 4 bed properties will provide a sympathetic addition to the existing area, integrating two large mature trees and other existing, established planting into the scheme. The location means that the dwellings will also enjoy lovely views over the adjacent green space.

Moseley Farm Redevelopment

Work is progressing well on Moseley Farm, with the Farmhouse now structurally reconfigured, and the contract on the first three barns – non-designated heritage assets – commenced, and the planning process for the remaining three underway.  We are looking forward to working with our dynamic contractor, RDS Build Ltd, as this exciting brownfield redevelopment continues, and new life is breathed back into this historic site.
