Zebra were given a brief to refresh Hamilton House, one of St Johns 1920s neglected teaching blocks, extended multiple times with uninspiring spaces, tired furnishings, and faded features. Due to the scale of work and the constraints of school holidays, the refurbishment was master planned and phased over several school holidays. Phase 2 was completed in the summer of 2017 within budget.

Our design created large window openings between the classrooms and corridors, forming a rhythm of original brickwork and canvases of art, punctuated by large internal windows to add natural light, expressing the art and emphasising the inherent grandness which the spaces promised. The increased transparency between teaching spaces and corridors, coupled with high quality finishes has transformed this building into a 21st-century educational environment.
